This solution was mostly custom due to the complex nature of the quoting subject, with the final step being the creation of a sales order in Pronto.
The objective of this project was to provide an iPad based quoting tool for dental chairs and associated consumable equipment. The App would need to be capable of complex chair configurations where the inclusion of one or more items would mean the exclusion of one or more other items as configuration options. The quote would generally have multiple ‘versions’ before the final approval and each version would need to be recorded historically.
Ultimately, the goal was to be able to load the quote into a sales order in Pronto that would draw on inventory held in Pronto and manage all elements of the financial transactions correctly.
Done completely independently of Pronto, the previous system relied on sales reps having a book of ‘template’ quotes, depending on the model chair(s) being quoted. These template quotes would be written on during based on information from the customer.
Once all information had been gathered, the sales rep would need to return to the office and produce a quote in a German based Quote Configurator provided by the parent company.
This quote would be printed, manually scanned and sent to the customer for approval. Any changes would need to be again made in the Internal Quote Configurator system before being re-issued to the customer. Once the quote was approved, details of the quote would need to be manually entered in to Pronto.
New Mobility SolutionOur system provided a quote template maintenance system in Pronto, where a base set of inventory items and configurations could be setup for a chair type. Attached to this template were all possible configuration changes. Our maintenance programs also allowed for a range of consumable items to be made available to the quoting tool. When a Sales Rep logged onto the quoting tool, he or she would see all their existing quotes, with the ability to “Edit Quote, Copy Quote or Enter New Quote”. When entering a new quote, the Rep would choose the relevant quote template, depending on what he or she was quoting and make changes according to the customer’s requirements. This would then generate a quote number which was saved back to the Pronto Software into custom tables. This quote could later be recalled for editing, with the Rep being able to optionally increase the version number.
Once the Rep was happy with the quote, there was an option to finalise Quote which allowed for signature capture and email of the quote to nominated recipients. This process also created a ‘quote’ in the sales-order table in the Pronto Software and quick-linked a copy of the signed PDF to the sales order. The customer we designed this mobile quoting tool for has since moved from Pronto Software to another ERP. They were so impressed with the functionality that the Quoting Tool provided that they are in the process of re-writing the backend API’s so our App will communicate with their new ERP. | ![]() |
